Emma Simmermon is the current president of Depop. Growing up, Emma and her younger sister, Claire, solved their boredom by driving around and exploring all the thrift stores in her hometown, Sacramento. This boredom cure developed into now one of Emma’s favorite hobbies: thrifting. She found a love for finding hidden gems at thrift and consignment stores and realized the importance of shopping secondhand because of the mass amounts of items she witnessed being donated every day. Emma is passionate about her company Depop because she wants to promote sustainable fashion consumption in an accessible way. Besides thrifting, Emma enjoys trying new coffee shops, going to the beach, and spending time with family and friends.
Currently, Emma is finishing up her sophomore year at Loyola Marymount University. She is projected to graduate in May of 2025 with a double major in Information Systems & Business Analytics and Marketing from LMU’s College of Business Administration. Emma is currently gaining experience in her studies by working as an Assistant Business Manager for The Los Angeles Loyolan, LMU’s student-run newspaper. In this position she helps document analytics for the paper and helps with advertisement sales to clients. Emma is still figuring out what exact career pathway she wants to pursue post-graduation, but she hopes to enter into the field of marketing analytics or become a data analyst for a fashion or beauty brand in the Los Angeles area.
